We now have strong evidence

Furthermore, we now have strong evidence that regular exercise is linked to improved quality and duration of sleep and reduced risk of depression and anxiety, all while optimizing executive function like organizational skills, planning, memorizing, processing, attention, academic performance, and improved overall quality of life. Adopting an active lifestyle means you will not only drastically cut your risk of developing a chronic disease, but you can also expect to be well-rested, mentally sharp, and happier! The simple yet powerful medicine of movement offers more benefits with lower risk of side effects than any drug available TPE gloves.

Of all the aspects of lifestyle medicine, diet and exercise are certainly the most familiar. We instinctively feel their connection to health and have likely heard about the benefits of doing both many times before. Yet despite this, trends of rising chronic disease and obesity continue.

Why is this?

In my view, the missing piece is making changes and sticking to them. Simple, but not always easy. How do we get these benefits when so much of our personal and professional lives seems engineered to keep us glued to our seats like those London bus drivers?

How do we become more like mail carriers when we have demanding jobs, long commutes Food gloves, and feel so tired by the end of the day that we fantasize about flopping onto the couch to unwind in front of the TV?

And how do we do this in light of the societal messages that leave many of us more discouraged than energized, especially when we see all those images of how healthy bodies are “supposed” to look?

Despite all of these legitimate barriers to keeping a regular exercise practice, I went from walking with a cane and shunning physical activity to running a marathon. I know that if I can do it, believe me, you can do it too.
